Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach (Słynczew Briag) is the largest and oldest spa town on the Bulgarian coast, 36 km north of Burgas. Along a wonderful six kilometers long sandy beach, there are over a hundred hotels. Sunny Beach specializes in servicing family tourism, especially families with young children. There are many such objects here, like playgrounds, children's pools; in the premises they offer a special menu for children; it is also easy to find a babysitter. The beach gently enters the sea and poses no threat to these, who cannot swim. The activities on offer include sailing, windsurfing, tennis, Horse Riding.

Unfortunately, all facilities are crowded in summer, and closed in winter.

This resort is a good place for a vacation. In the midst of the city's concrete buildings, looking a bit depressing, you can already see attempts to improve the appearance of some objects. The city describes itself as the "Stalinist Legoland."”.


Camping – There are two campsites at the northern end of the spit, both open from May to mid-October. Camping Emona by the beach costs money 4 $ per person i 4 $ additionally from the tent (there are no cabins). The place is completely crowded with tents.

Campsite Słynczew Briag (tel25 92), from the land side, on the highway, a few hundred meters from the Emona campsite, has 180 small houses with shared bathrooms, 8 $ from person. Camping costs money 7 $ from person. It was crowded here, so-so equipment, but lots of space. There is hardly any cheaper place in the area, where to stay.

Hotele – Planning to stay at the hotel, you should buy a tourist package. Balkantourist office service (tel.2256), near the hotel Kuban, can reserve rooms for the price 20-40 $ from person. The office does not offer private accommodation – you have to go to Nessebar. Over a dozen two-star hotels are open all year round, such as Globus or Pelikan.


Buses to Burgas and Varna depart from the bus station, located 250 m south of the Balkantourist office, on the land side of the main road. There are also private buses and a suburban railway between Sunny Beach and Burgas.

Co 15 minutes, from one end of the resort to the other, the funicular runs.

Behind Obzor you can see the remains of the defensive walls and the temples of Jupiter from the Roman times, but before that there was the Greek Heliopolis. In the Middle Ages, the Bulgarians built a stronghold. After the Greeks, there are still ruins of the Poleokastro fortress, near Cape Emine. There is an old lighthouse on the cape. Kamchia before Varna was a fortress in Roman times. W XIII w. Tsar Asen II built a shipyard. On the Kamchia River, there is the Wangoza forest reserve with exotic vegetation.
